Meet Our Librarian

Dr. Sourav Chatterjee is presently the Librarian of Syamaprasad College, Kolkata. He has been working in this college since December, 2016. Prior to this he served in two other institutions in the substantive approved post. He was Librarian of Ranaghat College for almost six and half years and he also served Jadavpur University in the post of Assistant Librarian Grade- II. Before that he was Librarian of B.K.Roy Foundation, Kolkata and he also served as a Librarian of Jagadish Chandra Bose Sikshak Sikshan Mahavidyalaya (B.Ed. College) for few years as well. He is working in this profession for more than 15 years.

Dr. Chatterjee has B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics and he did his Masters , M.Phil NET qualified and Ph.D in Library and Information Science from University of Calcutta. He has more than 25 numbers of publications to his credit in different Journals, chapter of books, and conference/ seminar proceedings with ISSN/ISBN. He has attended a number of national seminars, conferences, workshops and webinars in his career. His interest areas of research are Information sources, systems and services and Community Information Services (CIS). He worked as an examiner of B.Lib paper under Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU).

He is life member professional bodies like Bengal Library Association (BLA), and West Bengal College Librarians’ Association (WBCLA). Currently he is an Executive Committee member of WBCLA for more than last three years.

We have around 19000 books and more books are in the stage of inclusion which will be target the CBCS system introduced by University of Calcutta in the year 2018 in under graduate as well as post graduate studies.

Main Library: It is housed in the main Campus Situated at 92, S.P Mukherjee Road, Kolkata - 700026.
Annex Library: It is housed in Annex Campus situated at 5B, R Dasgupta Road, Kolkata - 700026. Books for students pursuing B.Sc are available here for reference.

Dr. Chatterjee has B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics and he did his Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Calcutta. He is also UGC NET qualified. He is having more than 20 publications to his credit. He is a life member of Bengal Library Association (BLA) and West Bengal College Librarians’ Association (WBCLA).

She had completed B. A Hons from Burdwan University in the year 1993 and completed B.Ed from Calcutta University in the year.
Before joining her current organization she worked as a Primary Teacher at Pailan World School for 5 years.
She is having proficiency in Office suite and Photoshop.

Sri. Arup Kumar Das

He completed his schooling at National High School for boys. He then graduated from Syamaprasad College with Honours in Accounting and Finance. He had completed his Masters in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamraj University and also have completed a course (Business English Communication) from British Council. He had completed L.L.B from Fakir Mohan University along with a certified course in Basics of Computers from ZED Computer Academy.
Working experience;
He had started his career as a Ground Staff (Trainee) in Air India and was under probation for six months. He later worked as Human Resource Officer for three years in Trustklub Consulting Pvt ltd and was also promoted thrice for his outstanding performance. Later he got appointed as Assistant to Accountant in Syamaprasad College and is presently entrusted with the development of the main and annex building library.
